Five Nutritional Tips For Your Kitten

Five Nutritional Tips For Your Kitten

Bringing a new kitten home is equal parts exciting and overwhelming. There's so much to think about: cat-proofing the place, combing up cat hair, providing enough entertainment. One thing you may overlook is nutrition, and especially the nutritional needs which are unique to a fresh kitten. Here are five essential nutritional needs for your kitty!

One. High-quality protein.
Protein doesn't just build muscles, it also assists in the development of healthy tissue, organs, bones, and more! That includes their eyes, heart, gut and more. It's not just the quantity of protein that matters but the quality. High-quality free-range or organic meat provides your kitten with rich, easily bio-available proteins that means their system doesn't have to work harder to grow better.

Two. Essential Amino Acids (Taurine specifically).
This is a nutritional need that really is unique to your kitten. Felines need taurine, which is why they're obligate carnivores! We have created specific pet meals for cats and kittens that are high in taurine (through fish bones,  eggs and organ meats) to support the development specifically of their heart and eyes.

Three. Calcium and Phosphorus.
Another must-have for your growing kitten is high-quality calcium and phosphorus, to keep their bones and teeth strong. Without these two vital nutrients, your kitten can suffer from injuries, deformities and potential disabilities.

Four. DHA (docosahexaenoic acid).
DHA is an omega-3 fatty acids that is found naturally in mother's milk - that is your kitten's mothers milk - which is vital for development of their brain and eyes. Luckily, DHA is also found in fish oils, to ensure they have everything they need!

Five. Consistency.
Okay, so this isn't exactly a nutritional need, but consistency is vital for your kitten to grow well and be great. Consistently feeding your pet a complete nutritional meal two times a day at the same time every day is vital for not only their physiological health, but their settling in to their new home, training, obedience and mental well-being!

Welcoming a new baby into your home is so exciting and takes a lot of effort. Just these five things may seem like a lot, but don't worry! With Pawganic Pet Foods, we've taken care of everything.
