How much raw food should I feed a dog or cat?

This depends on their weight and age, as well as their activity
levels. It can be pretty difficult to offer a precise guide, but here are some tips to help you determine the best portion size for your pet.

The best thing to do is monitor your pet’s weight every 4-6 weeks, as well as monitor their physical appearance such as their hips and ribs to determine if they are putting on or losing weight.

Portion Guidelines for Dogs

You should generally consider feeding your dog 2-3% of their body weight each daily split between two meals. That is if your dog is a healthy weight and you wish to maintain their weight, rather than increase or decrease.

If your dog needs to gain or lose weight, we suggest speaking to your vet as they will be able to give you a clearer portion size guide.

Transitioning to thePawganics Evolutionary Range or a Raw Diet

Ruth recommends transitioning your pet for the first 10-14 days when introducing the Pawganics Evolutionary range of meals.

Too fast a transition may mean your pet’s digestive system is not used to either raw food or some of the ingredients, and this may
cause sickness.

Our experience shows most pets transition without incident. However, if your pet shows any signs of sickness, we recommend you carefully consider:

1. Did you slowly transition the meals (i.e. start with a small amount of the Pawganics, mixed in with your pet’s legacy meal)?
2.How did you store meals upon receiving them?
3. How did you defrost meals before serving?
4. How did you store any leftovers?
5. Do your pets have any known food sensitivities or allergies?

The answers to these questions may assist in understanding any
transitioning issues. If you transitioned over a 10-14 day period and experienced any issues, please contact Pawganics on orders@pawganicpetfood.com.au, or call either 07 5445 2912 or 0421158424, or speak to your vet.
